    Yes, this felt like (and was) an extravagant purchase the review on this site that finally convinced me to buy was someone saying there was simply no way to justify this purchase to your spouse. Both funny and correct! That said, regardless of the price, this has become a critical (and reliable) measuring tool in our kitchen. I've only had it for a short while (purchased early February 2021), but I now cook chicken for my children without the fear that I will undercook it and make them sick! Ive also gone from either wildly under or overcooking steak to getting it either perfect or well within

    I bought a Thermapen MK4 as a Christmas present for my wife and liked it so much that I bought a dozen more for gifts. Then I decided to perform a test. I set five "new" ones to read tenths of a degree F and laid them on the dining room table next to the "old" one we'd used for two months. Four of five new ones matched the old one exactly and the fifth was within 0.1F. After rearranging the probes closer to each other on the table, eventually they all read exactly the same, for example 72.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Amazing!
