    On my 2nd day of hiking with this, completely unbeknownst to me, the device, while still in my daypack and with the antenna and cover both secured, started to transmit a signal which triggered a Search and Rescue effort for me. Only when the County Sheriff showed up at my cabin (turns out the SAR folks got my cabin location from my Emergency Contact registered with NOAA) after I returned from my hike did I have a clue. I took the PLB out of my daypack to show to him and it was not flashing or displaying anything and it was still secured. So we thought it must be someone else's beacon going off
